Zonta Women in Skilled Trades Scholarship
The Zonta Club of Brampton-Caledon celebrates over 50 years of service to our community and as a member of Zonta International, a world-wide organization which has influenced change in the lives of women and girls for over 106 years. Our club members volunteer their time, energy and financial support to raise awareness and advocate on issues that affect the daily lives of women and girls. We make a difference!
The Zonta Club of Brampton-Caledon is pleased to present Sheridan College with a donation of $6,000.00 for the academic year. The funding will support the Zonta Women in Skilled Trades Scholarship at Sheridan College, as an initiative to empower women pursing careers in the skilled trades and to align with Zonta’s mandate to advance the status of women through education.
The Zonta Women in Skilled Trades Scholarship will support four (4) female students with a scholarship of $1,500.00 who meet the following criteria;
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents
- 3 scholarships to support applicants who live in Brampton and 1 scholarship to support a student from Caledon
- Applicants must be enrolled in a recognized Skilled Trades program at Sheridan College
– CNC & Precision Machining, Mechanical Technician
– CNC & Precision Machining, Mechanical Techniques
– Electrical Engineering Technician
– Electrical Techniques
– Industrial Millwright, Mechanical Technician
– Plumbing Technician
– Plumbing, Mechanical Techniques
– Welding Techniques
– Welding and Fabrication Technician
- The scholarship will be based on a combination of factors: academic or work background; community service, volunteerism or leadership, identification of professional goals and commitment to a skilled trades career.
- A letter of reference / recommendation is required from a faculty member or academic advisor or former employer.
Important Notes: *
1) The successful recipient is aware and agrees to Sheridan providing confirmation of the recipients name, address, citizenship status and a summary of their qualifications.
2) The recipient must sign the Zonta’s Privacy Policy and Publicity Authorization Form.
3) The Zonta Women in Skilled Trades Scholarship are *intended to support tuition and educational expenses ONLY. The scholarship will be used to assist in paying any outstanding fees on the student account. If the account balance is resolved ($0.00) the student / recipient may use the funds towards textbooks or other eligible educational supplies. Keep ALL receipts pertaining to textbooks and / or educational supplies and include in your application.

- I understand that the Zonta Women in Trades Skilled Scholarship is intended to support tuition and educational expences only. The scholarship will be used to assist in paying fees during this academic year and will remain on the account to do so. The scholarship may be used to assist in purchasing textbooks or other eligible education supplies.
- Supporting documentation: Inclued all receipts / proof of purchase for educational related expenses such as textbooks, supplies, tools etc.
