Black HR Professionals of Canada’s Marshall Workplace Law Scholarship for Human Resources Students

Black HR Professionals of Canada’s Marshall Workplace Law Scholarship for Human Resources Students (open to domestic students in any year of study) is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Marshall Workplace Law and is hosted in partnership with the JCA’s scholarship program. BlackHRPC is an incorporated volunteer-based not-for-profit organization. We accelerate careers, break barriers, and cultivate networks for our members. We enable career advancement and representation of Black HR professionals and students. We exist to visibly increase and support the culturally engaged Black Diaspora to excel academically, prosper professionally and positively influence the HR community.

Requirements
All applicants to the JCA Scholarship Program are assessed based on demonstrated academic ability, involvement in school and/or community leadership activities and volunteerism, financial need, personal achievements beyond academics which may include personal accomplishments in spite of hardships, and a commitment to their career goals and to giving back. Applicants must be of Caribbean or African heritage.

JCA Scholarship Mandatory Requirements/Documents:

  • If selected for a scholarship, attendance at the annual JCA Scholarship Awards Ceremony
  • Proof of full-time enrollment in an Ontario college or university
  • Proof of status in Canada
  • A two-page essay that describes why you are applying for this scholarship, your academic goals, career goals, life experiences relevant to your application, any hardships you have encountered, involvement in volunteer/leadership activities, and how you plan to pay it forward if you are selected
  • Most recent transcript
  • A breakdown of income and expenses for the upcoming academic year
  • Applicant photograph and summary
  • Two references (academic, employment or volunteer-related)

Additional Criteria for this scholarship:
In addition to standard JCA eligibility criteria, priority for this scholarship is given to applicants pursuing Human Resources related studies. Preference is also given to students with exceptional aptitude in Human Resources or Industrial Relations.
